Essential Questions for this Unit

"Rain, Train and Speed"-JMW Turner National Gallery
On your blog answer the essential questions:
  1. How are the Romantics' beliefs of optimism and individualism reflected in their writing?
  2. What is Romanticism, Gothic Romanticism and Southern Gothic Romanticism? How are they similar how are they different?
  3. How is the Southern Gothic movement a response to literary movements that have preceded it as well as a manipulation of Romantic literary conventions?
  4. How did the American culture prompt the dark sides of Romanticism (think Gothic and Southern Gothic)?
  5. How do the writings of these time periods influence the writings of today? 
Feel free to add to your answers as you progress through the unit.

K so I just got home and am dead tired but I finished the fourth post and did part of Essential questions but didn't get all the way finished with all of the questions ( but I published so you could look over)..... So I have all of them published on time so could you comment on them?:) ( On that last one I just mean with the questions I got finished so I could do the other ones like you tell me how to do these) Oh nevermind you will see what I mean when you look at my blog!:) Have fun! :P

  14. Alright it has been a very long day, but as of now I have finished my blog. That is until you tell me what I need to fix...so looking forward to it. Just let me know what corrections I need to make on anything so that I can fix it and get a good grade. Thanks. And tbh I am so tired when it asks me if I'm a robot I'm kinda having trouble figuring out what some of it says.

    1. How is the Southern Gothic movement a response to literary movements that have preceded it:
      1. How is it similar to these movements?
      2. How is it different than these movements?
      3. How did they influence it (think about G. Rom, Rom...even Puritanism) remember time periods aren't created in a vaccum.

      ...as well as a manipulation of Romantic literary conventions?
      1. What are the three basic tenets of Rom?
      2. What are the three basic tenets of G. Rom?
      3. How do these tenets relate to Southern G. Rom (look at your notes)?
